CHRISTMAS DO WE? SUSTAINABLE ECONOMY

back in December has arrived and with it another Christmas period that will, once again, in the great festival of consumption. Today, though perhaps this year will be mild for what the crisis, which is considered Christmas is a time of year to shop, eat and drink is an end in itself and our only business card is the credit.

Christmas has always pivoted on the birth in Bethlehem of Jesus (most times the child is born into the world), but has gone the main protagonist of this story. Now, simply ignores him, he disguises, is changed, no longer interested him before. So much so that in most homes, there are more Christmas trees and Santas that "births." Christmas has long lost its religious character reduced to a family party and consumption, many believe that God is a being away from everyday events and detrimental to their interests. Live as if there is an obstacle and a moral one to achieve their ends. Every time they pray less and the one is the sanctuary where we go shopping centers. Let

believers or not, we live in times of intolerance and indifference. Several years ago I noticed a statistic made to children of school age what accounted for them for Christmas. Most responses were destined for gifts and holidays, only a small percentage is related to the family reunion was practically no reference to the baby Jesus. This is the message we have inherited. Within a few years, also left over words like "peace, love, solidarity.?

At this moment of postmodernity, to spend carefree, full stomachs, to treat at full blast, does not leave us entirely happy, sometimes sneaks us a feeling that connects with the intangible, may we call soul. Beyond our particular fabricating golden calf means money, we need to search for the transcendent because no one is so poor not to give or not to receive so rich, even just a kind word adorned with a smile.

As I said long ago, while a hungry child, a patient has no health care or medicine, some elderly without care, while there are wars between nations, or poor with no water or bread, we have parties, But we will not Christmas.

Desire, at heart, a wonderful Christmas and a year full of good news. Congratulations!
